The Tuesday Meeting

Print PDF

The Tuesday Meeting gathers on Tuesday afternoons at 2.30 pm in the Lower School Room. We meet every Tuesday except for 2-3 weeks over Christmas, the Tuesday after Easter Monday, and during July and August.

We are small, friendly group meeting for fellowship together and our meetings can be quite informal unless we have an invited speaker.

We have looked at the past and present of our town, county, and the Chilterns, and this has led to discussions of current problems. Quizzes, poetry readings (chosen by members) folklore, celebration and history of public holidays and saints’ days, and bible study, have all been part of our programme. We have a Communion Service twice a year – in Holy Week and on a Tuesday near Remembrance Sunday.

As a church group we start each meeting with short devotions – hymn, prayer and reading – and bless each other with the Grace before our tea and biscuits (or cake). We welcome members of other churches and non-churchgoers as long as they are happy in our company.

A voluntary collection is taken at each meeting and we pay 20p for our tea. Occasionally we have a Bring and Buy sale. The money we raise goes on church projects and we also support The Leprosy Mission, Christian Aid and local charities.

Our programme is in the Trinity Times every month. More details can be obtained from:

Olive Shepherd, Trinity United Reformed Church, London Road, High Wycombe HP11 1BJ, or e-mail olive.shepherd@live.co.uk
