Revive - Building For The Future - October 2009 Update
Building Work
- We are in the last few weeks of work - doors to be re-hung; redecoration to be completed; carpets to be laid.
- The Revive team will be deciding preference on chairs in September once redecoration is complete and carpet tiles are down so we can better gauge what would work best
- We hope to put small speakers in the Lionel Jowett Room, Kate Smith Room and Lower School Room so that those involved in Junior Church, crèche or other activities can listen in (and adjust the volume) to services etc. taking place in the sanctuary if they wish.
- Clean-up week 12-16 October - we will be carrying out various cleaning, repair and redecoration works around the building during this week and at other times
- We are on budget at present
Work that is not being done in this phase (until we have the funds):
- The coffee bar and urn
- Redecoration of the stairwells to the gallery
- The large front glass doors, new inner wall & doors, and storage cupboards
- Carpet to front entrance vestibule - we will retain the current floor tiles until we install the new large front glass doors and change the inner vestibule layout
Usage
The pilots for the Caribbean Elderly project as part of "Movers and Shakers" in partnership with Bucks Primary Care Trust have gone well and look set to continue. Those attending share fellowship, do some gentle exercise (seated), and share a meal amongst other activities.
Other discussions are still taking place.
Fundraising
We obviously need to keep the momentum up for fundraising, as we do still want to do the other works that have been approved.
We are looking at some commemorative fundraising items to mark the re-opening of the sanctuary.
